C/2013 X1

In June, comet PanSTARRS (C2013 X1) is visible through binoculars from wilderness locations free from light pollution. The comet can be found above the southern horizon from 2 a.m. through 4:00 a.m., PDT. Its brightness has been reported as being magnitude 6.4.

The comet is expected to brighten as it makes its closest approach to earth in July.
